Welcome Southern Region!

My name is Curtis Chambers and I am delighted to serve as the 2011-2012 Southern Regional Chair. I am currently a senior a Florida State University pursing a degree in Hospitality Management. I look forward to sharing an amazing year with each and every one of you and I have great confidence that this will be one of the best years the region has ever seen. We have an amazing national board this year bringing great ideas and talent to the table.

As an active member in NSMH, I realize firsthand how much of a positive influence this society has made in my life and the lives of other members.  This realization motivated me to be on the National Board. This year I wish to devote my time, knowledge, and willpower to NSMH so that this society’s legacy will grow. Some of my primary interests are to increase membership, reputation in our local communities, professionalism, and most of all ensure that chapters have 100% participation.

The 2011 22nd National Conference was an outstanding and a total success for the South. Our attendance grew substantially from the previous year and greater recognition was given because of the dedicated individuals who were developed in the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH). We even had privilege of claiming first place in the Hospitality Olympics festivities. Way to go Southern Region!

I am ecstatic about this year’s regional conference.  Just like previous years, we will be uniting with the Southeastern region and I know that it will as spectacular. The conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia at the Hilton Atlanta Northeast on November 4 – 6.  The regional meeting will provide you with great personal and professional development opportunities.

Furthermore, I am excited about the great experiences that we will enjoy together in the months ahead of us, particularly at our national conference in Washington, D.C. February 16-19.  Join me in celebrating “NSMH Nation: iDream, iLearn, iAm.”  I cannot wait to meet every one of you talented amazing individuals. As your southern chair I will be by your sides to aid you in your transition from today’s students to tomorrow’s leaders.
