Howdy Western Region, My name is Meghan Wescoat, and I am thrilled to be your 2011-2012 “Redneck” Western Regional Chair. As I reunite the Western Region with its country roots, I am looking forward to an exciting year for the West, including an enhanced awareness of the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH). I am currently a Senior in the Hotel and Restaurant Management Program at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Earning this position is an honor and I am excited to be working with people who share my dedication and passion for the hospitality industry and our organization. The 2011-2012 National Board would like to introduce to all members and sponsors this year’s theme, “NSMH Nation: iDream, iLearn, iAm.” On behalf of your National Board, I can tell you we are a resource for your personal and professional growth. I will saddle up to make sure you aim and hit every bulls-eye on every target to achieve your goals. Through my experience as an NSMH member and executive officer, I have seen that in order to reap the benefits of NSMH it is important to be an active member of your school's chapter and take on leadership roles. Take advantage of the programs your chapter offers, scholarships that are available, and submit a well-written resume, which markets you to employers. I encourage you to get involved, attend conferences, apply for Chapter Awards, and run for National Board because this organization is growing everyday and can have tremendous impact on you and your career. I am eagerly anticipating the sound of the bell to kick off the Western Regional Conference! I cannot wait to lead the Western Region through the mountains into the future with an inspiring regional conference and a rewarding national conference. The 2011-2012 Western Regional Conference will be held at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas on October 28-30 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Put on your spurs and get ready for a wild ride as we journey to the 2011-2012 National Conference in Washington D.C. on February 16-19 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City. As we are the NSMH Family, please feel free to contact me at anytime at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Make sure you cowboy up and become apart of the NSMH Nation: iDream, iLearn, iAm. Sincerely, |
